5 Tips on How to Transport Your Flowers in Hot Weather

Florals & summer go perfectly together, but while this season is all about beautiful blooms, flowers don't really love the hot weather. You may find that transporting your bouquet or arrangement in a hot car causes your flowers to wilt faster and deteriorate rapidly, which is something we all hate. While we'd love if you always kept your blooms in cool temperatures and well-ventilated areas, that's not always possible. So here are 5 of our best tips on how to transport your flowers in hot weather!

Avoid direct sunlight

When possible, park your car in shaded areas or even use sunshades for your car windows to keep the interior temperature of your car down. The hotter the car, the faster your flowers will wilt, and your blooms don't want direct sunlight.

Shorten travel time & plan ahead

If you have multiple stops to make on your journey, plan your route out so that your floral pick up is last, meaning your flowers will be in the car for the least amount of time. Check traffic ahead of time and adjust your travel plans to minimize the length of time your flowers will be in the car.

Use AC

A well-ventilated and cool environment is your bouquet or arrangement's best friend, so be sure to keep your car cool. Avoid blasting AC directly onto your blooms, but make sure air is circulating in your vehicle.

Keep the stems moist

If you ordered an arrangement, this step shouldn't be a problem, but for bouquets you can wrap the stems in a damp paper towel or ask the stems to be water picked to keep your blooms hydrated.

Use a cooler

Are you taking an unavoidable longer trip? It may be a good idea to invest in an insulated cooler that can fit your bouquet or arrangement without damage. This will help keep your blooms in cooler temperatures without direct sunlight.

Bonus tip: have your floral order delivered by your local florist instead of picking it up yourself, as we know how to handle your flowers with the best care!
